Cheap Eats

Inexpensive and yummy pretty much sums up our requirement for a casual dinner out. So, the June issue of Portland Monthly with a feature article detailing 25 meals under $25 (see the magazine here) is droolworthy indeed.

Some of the 25 restaraunts are old favorites (Hot Pot City is fab!) of ours. Some are places I have heard good things about and some are all new to us! H and his friend checked out Autentica last week and reported back that the food was tasty, but the prices were a little high (especially for drinks).

I have heard several times how great the food is at Pok Pok/Whiskey Soda Lounge so seeing them on this list is just the push we need to go check it out. Take a look at their website to read all the great reviews and honors they have received. We plan on going there this week so I will let you all know what we think.

Have you eaten at Pok Pok or any of the other restaraunts that made the list? What did you think?

Live Wire

If you listen to OPB, you are probably familiar with Live Wire. I can best describe it as a radio variety-type show with skits, bands and interviews with guests and LOTS of comedy throughout. They tape the show live once a month at Aladdin Theater. My hubby loves to listen to the show on OPB so we finally attended a live taping in May. I didn't have any huge expectations since I don't really listen to the show. Wow! It was so much fun! Each segment had me laughing like crazy. The subject-matter is very Portland-centric and slices up current events in perfect entertaining bites. Adding to the entertainment are the funny mistakes, re-dos and slightly raunchy comments that will be edited out of the radio show. The Aladdin also serves pizza, snacks and beer.

You can listen to the show on OPB every first and last Saturday at 7PM or better yet, attend the monthly live taping! Check out their website for more info and tickets.

Ever been to a taping or a fan of the show? Let me know what you think if you check it out!

Welcome to Portland DINKs

My hubby and I are newlywed young professionals in our mid-twenties. After almost five years living in this awesome little city, we now call PDX our home and have slowly, but surely settled in. We have some favorites, but are always up for trying something new. Please join us in finding fun and interesting things to do in the Portland area. I would also love to hear your comments and recommendations on things that are worth checking out.
